Time until Arma
Liberation RX on Malden. Started May 2025.
Previous Missions
- Download Arma 3
- Download Teamspeak 3
- Follow the Task Force Radio installation instructions below.
- Launch Teamspeak (ask for password if you don't have it).
- Start the Arma 3 Launcher
- In the Mods tab, click "Unload All"
- In the Server tab search for "EG Arma Squad"
- Click "Join"
- Click "Setup DLC and Mods and Join" which will start downloading the mods. If it gets stuck you may need to free up some space.
If you have an old version of TFAR installed installed then you will need to uninstall the old teamspeak plugin before installing the latest version. To uninstall the old plugin:
- Launch Teamspeak
- Select Tools -> Options from the menu
- Select "Addons" on the left hand side
- Scroll until you find the "Task Force Arrowhead Radio" section and click "Uninstall"
- Optional: Uninstall the old Task Force Radio mod from Arma. Open https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=620019431 and unsubscribe.
Then you can set up the new mod and Teamspeak plugin:
- Install or update Teamspeak to version >=3.6.2
- Subscribe to the new "Task Force Radio (BETA!!!)" Arma 3 mod either through the Arma 3 launcher when joining the server or directly at https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=894678801. Wait for the mod to finish downloading.
- Once the mod has downloaded we need to install the associated Teamspeak plugin. From the Arma 3 launcher choose "Mods" in the left sidebar and find the entry for "Task Force Radio (BETA!!!)" and click on it.
- Then click the little "..." button and choose "Open folder in Windows Explorer".
- In Windows Explorer open the "@Task Force Arrowhead Radio (BETA!!!)" folder and then the "teamspeak" folder inside it.
- Double-click the "task_force_radio.ts3_plugin" file and follow the prompts to install it.
- Restart Teamspeak and Arma 3
- Join the Arma 3 server, it should move you to the Task Force Radio channel automatically before you spawn in. If not then something went wrong.
- Join the Default channel in Teamspeak before starting Arma 3. When you join the Arma 3 server make sure that the Task Force Radio and CBA A3 mods are loaded.
- When your player spawns the Teamspeak plugin will move you into the "TaskForceRadio" channel automatically. If it does not, something is broken. Other players in the TaskForceRadio channel may not hear you at all.
- It is recommended that you set up Teamspeak to transmit on Voice Activity Detection instead of Push-To-Talk. You can find this setting in TeamSpeak -> Tools -> Options -> Capture.
- You need a shortwave radio in your inventory in Arma 3. Once the radio is in your inventory, you will need to set it to the correct channel before it will be useful.
- The default keybind to configure your radio is Ctrl-P. Most short-wave radios can be configured using the following steps: Click on the displayed numbers and type in your default channel number, then click "Enter". You can then use "Caps Lock" to talk on the radio.
- We use radio channel 100 by default. If you have a long-range radio (backpack or vehicle) use channel 50.
- Sometimes after you respawn or change gear in the Arsenal your radio channel will be reset. It is a good practice to check your radio after each time you respawn or change your loadout.
- Short range radios have a range of about 2km. Long range radios have a range around 7km.
- Ctrl-P: Opens your short-range radio. You can click the buttons to set your channel.
- Caps Lock: the push-to-talk key for your radio.
- Alt-P: Opens your long-range radio
- Ctrl-Caps Lock: push-to-talk for long-range radio.
The Enhanced Movement mod allows you to climb over and onto obstacles that the vanilla engine will not. After loading this mod you need to bind a key for it to work. Instructions for binding the key can be found in this YouTube video.
The ACE suite of mods adds a load of features and complexity to the Arma experience. The medical system in particular has been completely overhauled and has a high learning curve. Here is a guide that covers the medical system in detail. TLDR; Scroll down to page 8, "Treatments: Rapid response for rapid recovery", for the TLDR.
- If in doubt, restart TeamSpeak and the game
- Pipe error - Sometimes Teamspeak will fail to connect to Arma 3 resulting in a pipe error. Usually this means the required Teamspeak plugin has not been installed correctly, but sometimes a system reboot will fix it.
